Bought my first 2wd Blazer - 6 lug question

Well, I'm in the Blazer game now. Paid the fellow in Toronto and am flying the GF and I there in July to drive it 3,500km/2,200mi back home to Calgary.

2 Questions:
1) This Blazer has front disks (5 lug) and rear drums (6 lug). I'd like to have 5 lug in the rear too for aftermarket wheel considerations. What are my options to convert the rear to 5 lug?

2) I'm considering ditching the white walls for some US Mags Rambler wheels (20's). I'd like to be able to swap the 20" wheels from the blazer to my 72 C10 (5x5 or 5x127 bolt pattern). My question is if this 1970 Blazer has the same clearance and axle width as my 72 C10? The C10 can accommodate 295/45-20's in the rear and 255/50-20's up front. Just wondering if the Blazer will be able to handle this too. The Blazer appears to have a 4/5 drop or so.

Nice blazer. Wheel and tire fitment for blazers are the same as the trucks. If it is original (rear trailing arms) you can swap in the whole rear end from a 71-72 chevy truck (trailing arm) if you can find one.

Congrats on becoming one of a very few that can say they have an original 1970 2wd Blazer!

All you need is the axles and drums off of a 71 and up axle to swap to a 5x5 bolt pattern.

I have heard that mid-year 1970 was the change-over for narrow and wide axles all my life also, but after owning 4 different 1970 pickups and Blazers, not 1 of them had a narrow axle from the factory. My current 1970 2wd Blazer has a build date of Dec. '69 and came from the factory with a wider axle.

Bear's axles can supply you with new axle shafts, and they are Canadian.

I agree. All the 70 truck rearends I have looked at were the wider version like the 71-72 trucks had.
But I would measure for sure, before you order axles.

Personally I would stick with a shorter tire for a static dropped truck.
255/40 and 295/40 Toyo tires would work well with 20x8.5 and 20x10 wheels.

I just read on another thread that this is an original 2WD. Just curious as to why the rear has 6 bolts ? I thought the 2wd were all 5 bolt?

In 1970 all 2wd trucks and blazers still had 6 lug drums on all 4 corners. The switch to 5 lug 2wds came with disc brakes in 1971.

Has anyone noticed that their factory 2WD has off-centered rear end? One of my back tires is closer to the fender than the other.

If your Blazer is lowered at all and still has the stock panhard bar, you will need to replace it with an adjustable version, preferably one that goes to the passenger side trailing arm. Then you just need to adjust the length to center the rear end.
