Air Deflector that fits right?

1986 c10 Silverado RWD

The original part number (stamped on the back of the factory piece) is 14033331.

I believe the correct replacement part number is 15569084 / GM1092122

Tried the one from Amazon ($25), it doesn't fit. I read a view from summit that their version doesn't fit either. Basically -- it's about an inch too short, and none of the bolt holes line up. Yeah, i could drill new holes, but i'd rather buy a piece that fits right.

Does anyone know if the LMC one fits correctly? Part number 38-7403...

Apparently no longer available from dealers (no surprise there)...

I don't mind paying more for the LMC one ($50 shipped) if it fits right... Anyone know for sure?

Here's some pics of the amazon one that doesn't fit next to the original. Every hole is off by about 1/2" or 1"...

The LMC deflectors fit like a glove, replaced mine twice due to curb damage and had no problems with them.

Thanks! that what i was hoping. I saw the reviews about fitment before i bought the cheap one, but i thought i'd get lucky....

But if the LMC one fits right, it's worth the extra $25...


Just not really into drilling the holes to make it fit... i'd rather it just be right the first time.

I don't really get why so many people are selling this one that obviously doesn't fit. It shouldn't be hard at all to fix it.

If I remember correctly..They had different sizes available. What size do you think would work well with a 4.5" drop?

They have 2 sizes, 4" and 5.5", I was running the 5.5" deflector but it's a little long for a lowered truck, went back to the 4"

If its the $25 one it wont .

You can probably make it work if you re-drill all the holes.... i think the only thing hard to redrill would be the 2 ends with the metal brackets riveted on. they swivel, so you could probably bring in each end hole by about 1/2" to make it fit -- then just drill the rest where the bumper holes are.

Wasn't worth the effort for me, and, i didn't want it all janky with a bunch of extra holes. if it was a work truck/beater i would have probably made it work, but -- for me -- it's a fun almost classic that my grandfather bought new, so i want to keep everything "right" where i can...

fyi short one is correct for 2wd / long is 4wd NON tow hook / long with notches is for tow hooks .

i used a long NON tow hook on my 2wd for a lower look . but i am 2.5" down front/back on 31 rollers but going 29" 255/70/15 .

Mine was $58...hopefully this one is of better quality than the one u got. Btw what size screws or bolts do i need...mine didnt come with any hardware

the 2 outside holes just bolt in with a metal bracket that is attached to the deflector. Factory was staples, the amazon one was rivets. it came with those 2 bolts.

the rest of the wholes (Maybe 6 or 8?) screw into those u-clips/u-nuts that you put on the bumper.

LMC has the hardware kit for I think $10. I didn't need it, but i think it comes with all the pieces. I paid 40 for the deflector + 10 for shipping at LMC.

No reason you shouldn't just get some bolts and u-clips at the hardware store either....

Here's a couple pics of OEM next to LMC.. and of course the installed product - the 2WD version.

It's almost identical to OEM -- 2 real exceptions: Bracket is riveted not stapled, and the bigger difference: no vertical supports on the back side. However -- this might be a good thing. I'd imagine without the vertical supports molded in (you can see in my pics), the air dam may flex more if you hit something. My original broke because it hit something (i think when it was being trailered to me it hit the ramp maybe?) -- and it broke between the vertical supports. Maybe if it gave a little more, it wouldn't have broken?

Or, or just broke because it was 30 years old and more brittle, it is plastic.

Anyway, LMC fits perfectly, i'm happy with it.
