two tone white? Frost or Polar White?

I'm getting ready to paint my 74 Blazer and am going with Nassau Blue and White two-tone. I just had the paint mixed and the white I got is FROST WHITE. I put a few drops of it on the lid and when it dried it looks a bit more off-white creamy than the more pure white I was expecting.....Did I order the wrong white? Should it have been POLAR White or? I like the 80's to 90's two tone white and I'm not sure of the code. Who thought picking a white would be so difficult. PS-I'm going Base/Clear. What is the correct name or code for GM white used in two-tone?? HELP!

You really can't go by the noun names; they are arbitrarily created by the marketing groups. "Tuxedo Black" on a GMC might be the same as "Camaro Black" on a Chevy or "Black Diamond" on a Cadillac. Another example: "Carousel Red" on a Pontiac is the same color as "Hugger Orange" on a Chevy.

You have to go by the color code. The generic info packet in the GM Heritage Center archive for a '75 Blazer (there was not a packet for '74; I "assume" they are the same) shows code 12 Frost White as the secondary color. On your SPID it would show as "12L" (where "L" = "lower", or secondary).

Mid 80's also used code 12 Frost White (I checked 1985 as a data point).

The "12" code will translate into a PPG or Dupont code, which is the recipe from which they will formulate the correct color. They can convert your original high solid enamel recipe into a correct base coat/clear coat combination (that's what I did with my code 72 Apple Red truck). By 1990 the Blazer was receiving base coat/clear coat paint from the factory. I checked the 1990 info packet and it shows a code 50 Summit White. You might check to see if you prefer that color compared to what you purchased.

Thanks for the info. I thought Frost White was correct and I gave the paint guy all the GM codes and cross references but when I opened the can, as I said, it was very creamy or tan. No where near a pure white. I had them mix up another "whiter" GM white today and it looks fine. They didn't even charge me, so on to the painting stage!
I'll post pictures when she's done....
