Re: Just Picked bought this clean 80 Chevy
Welcome to the board! That is a really good looking truck. I hope you decide to stick around. There are a lot of really great members on here that have a ton of knowledge.

If the rear springs are mounted under the axle, you could move them back on top. Amount of lift will depend on how many springs are in the pack. Probably cheaper then 2 new tires and/or rims.

Re: Just Picked bought this clean 80 Chevy
That is a nice looking truck for sure. Adding rake could be as easy as looking under the truck to see how its lowered. If it has drop shackles as part of the drop it will be easy to lift the back an inch or two . most shackles have two sets of holes. 1 inch and 2 inches of drop. Swap to a stock shackle for a 2 inch lift if it currently has shackles. Its a nice truck. I had 18's on one a good while back. 255/55/18 front and 275/60/18 rears . definitly a height difference. Probably too tall for the amount of drop you have but you asked about a tall tire.

Saw the for sale add on that nice truck, drooled then drooled some more.
Nice purchase bud and that guy has some extremely nice Chevy's. I was eyeing the cream and red one, if I had the money......

Re: Just Picked bought this clean 80 Chevy
I think your truck looks great as it sits. I get the rake idea though. One thing to note is that the wheel opening in the front fender is cut higher than the opening in the rear fender. It looks that if you measured from the height from the center of your front wheel to the fender lip and compared it to the back, that they would be very similar measurements. If they are, you already have a rake but it's a subtle one. Honestly, I like that subtle rake the best where that dimension is close to the same, i.e. the fender lip "lands" on the same place of the wheel/tire front and back. It seems that the shackles and spring hangers would be where to get small adjustments if you needed to change the rear ride-height. Good luck!
