Painless installation part 2

My project is going very nicely, here are a couple more pics. The first one is the plug for the turn signal switch to the steering column. This plug does not come with the Painless kit so you have to supply your own from an old harness. The wires pop out by sticking a paper clip in the back of the plug. You only want to pop out one wire at a time, replacing it with the same colored wire from the Painless kit. (those are the ones hanging to the left)

Here are a couple more things that you'll want to save from your old harness, the two plugs are for the front parking lights/turn signals.....

Here's the "Maxi Fuse" that mounts inline between the fuse block and the starter sileniod. It's a 50 amp fuse that protects the entire electrical system.

Here's the right turn signal/parking light headlight section all wired up. The Painless wires match the original ones so it's idiot proof. (good for me)

Looking to the left of the power brake booster, here's the engine section and the taillight section. It doesn't show much, just gives an idea of how I did my routing. It came out very clean.

Thanks for sharing Randy!. One day I'll be doing the same upgrade. "Most" of my stuff works right now so I'll leave it alone.

Here's the left turn signal/parking light headlight and horn wiring. Don't pay any attention to the crappy looking radiator, still need to repaint it.

Thanks Perry, it really is easy just time consuming. The only hard part is routing the wires while keeping it clean. The kit comes with a couple hundred wire ties and for good reason, you end up cutting most of them back off to re-route wires. I don't think my wife will let me go to California alone, too many nice looking women out there.

Very sharp. Don't think I'd have the patience to make it look that clean. Good job.

I like the way you routed the wiring through the corner piece with the grommet.
Is that grommet supplied with the painless set? Or is that you're own idea?
Either way it looks good.
Nice Job man!!

Edmond

Thanks guys!!
Edmond- That was Richard Morgan's idea. The grommets came with the kit but were intended for something else (can't remember what) but I do need to buy one more grommet for the heater fan wire.
Hi Richard!

MAN, I NEED TO GET BACK OVER THERE ! YOU GOT A RADIATOR AND A BATTERY ALREADY IN THERE ! YOUR ALMOST READY TO FIRE THAT THING UP. ILL PROBALLY BE OVER TONIGHT.
I DOWNLOADED THE INSTALLATION MANUAL FROM THEIR SITE. IT HAS SO MUCH INFO. SINCE WIRE COLORS ARE THE SAME AS FACTORY IT HAS A EXCELLENT WIRING DIAGRAM. NOT TO MENTION EXACTLY THE INFO I NEEDED REGARDING HOW TO REWIRE MY ELECTRIC FAN, HEI, FUEL PUMP, ETC... I THINK READING THE MANUAL BEFORE MINE GETS HERE WILL MAKE IT GO ALOT SMOOTHER. WHEN YOU GET A NEW TOY IN YOUR HANDS YOUR TO TEMPTED TO PLAY WITH IT BEFORE YOU READ THE DIRECTIONS ! I WISH I HAD YOUR PATIENCE RANDY. ILL START MINE IN A COUPLE WEEKS. AND IF I HAVE A HARD TIME ILL JUST RUN OVER TO YOUR PLACE WITH THE DIGITAL CAMERA.

Nice job

Looks great. Thats on my list of "want to"s.

I also like the seat. What color is it? Is is a local custom job, or a vendor recover kit? Looks like it would be a natural in my turquoise truck.
