been away for a while so thought I would share some updates on my 71.. finally started back in January of this year with the new engine and tranny install. I was never really satisfied with my engine bay cause I knew it good have been a lot cleaner so that's what has lead me up to this point. once the tear down began I have found myself finding more dirty areas than I realized so basically everything from the firewall forward has been cleaned and repainted including the frame. im still in the process of the cleaning and painting some things and work takes a lot of my time so basically only on weekends I get to work on it so I'm looking by august to be done hopefully. thanks to the help of some good buddies and some cold ones it has been fun working on my own truck.

same steering gear box just a lot cleaner and fresh look, and pic of the motor sitting in on the clean frame. right now the brake booster is off to be painted also. ill update in a few weeks hopefully.

What a huge difference the paint makes, nice to have it all apart and do it correctly, twice the truck w a little paint and effort, nice work.

thank you, I used por 15 super starter kit gloss black and top coat is john deere blitz black

Looking great! What primer and paint did you use for the inner fenders and core support? Same as frame or something different?

Thank you appreciate compliment. to be honest my buddy painted the inner fenders, ac box, and core support so I'm not sure what primer he used but I do know the paint is called Medallion Satin Hot Rod Black.

thank you for the compliment. yes I did get the power i was looking for 350/365HP the engine has vortec heads but with a set of valve cover adapters for center bolt heads from speedway you cant really tell kind of just looks like a stock engine but sounds like a beast. i actually live in kingwood close to you also.
