Re: fuel pump and tank
Why modify your tank? Just use an inline high pressure fuel pump mounted inside the frame rail with an inline fuel filter... then you're all set with minimal fuss.

Re: fuel pump and tank
nothing wrong with a intank or inline pump...both do the same job...if you've already got a walbro and vett filter/reg I'd just go with that..I've been running one in mine for years with no issues....

Re: fuel pump and tank
I would go in tank too, from a reliability stand point, and the fact that your tank isn't baffeled at all. When the tank gets low, that electric fuel pump pushing the fuel to the engine at 58 psi, is going to starve for fuel during acceleration and cornering. On a carb'd engine you don't notice it because the fuel bowls hold enough fuel for the pump to catch up, but on an EFI engine, the stumble will be instantaneous. With a tank like you have, I would use a factory sender/fuel bucket type pump, that way you always have fuel at the pump. You can either buy something like a Vettworks adapter or make one since they're not very complex, then get a pump from a truck that matches the depth of your tank, Tahoe's are shorter than Silverados. http://www.vetteworksonline.net/cata...qln9hmmunf50v5

Re: fuel pump and tank
This is the last one I did, it's on a 59 Chevy, but same idea. You probably wouldn't need to recess the tank on a truck like I had to do. https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...r-wagon-5.html Tank mods start at about post 94.

Re: fuel pump and tank
I use this in my truck. It uses a 5th gen camaro fuel pump module.
https://www.vaporworx.com/ https://www.vaporworx.com/product-ca...ounting-rings/ and I'm assuming your tank is not baffled, use these too. https://www.vaporworx.com/product/cptkit/ |

Re: fuel pump and tank
No problem Novafrog. Just so you know Vaporworx has an aluminum ring you can weld to your tank. A little pricer, but the pump setup you will use no longer needs an external regulator. You'll only run a feed line to the engine. The regulator is housed in the fuel pump module.

Re: fuel pump and tank
you can get fuel grade rubber caps....or just use it as a extra tank vent..

I personally do not care for the whole blocking off the return line thing, to me its a car fire waiting to happen. I would get a pump with a return and run it like factory since your engine is set up for a return. High pressure fuel systems really aren't the place to cut corners to make things appear easier....

Re: fuel pump and tank
This is another reason I dont like blocking the return line. I'm pretty sure he's talking about the line on the rail, and a little miscommunication going on here. If someone tried to use these on the rail, it would only be a matter of when, not if there will be a fire.
