1950 Side Glass Not going to the top when up

I a finally getting back on the 50 project and I just installed new reproduction window regulators and new side glass. The issue I am having is no matter how I adjust the regulator positioning the glass is about 1/2 inch to an inch form the top when cranked all the way up.

Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Did I mention how much I hate installing doors and glass

Thanks,

There is a screw near the top of the window channel that secures the felt channel in place - is that screwed out and interfering with your glass?

If you can't find the problem, just have a longer window glass cut that will reach the top. I've done it, it works fine.

Re: 1950 Side Glass Not going to the top when up

There is nothing interfering with the glass going up, did it with and without the felt. Everything is new and nothing is binding, it seems like the window regulator is stopping before the glass hits the top.

A longer glass would be a good idea, the glass is new reproduction, will have to see how it might effect the chrome trim around the glass.

I bought the truck as an unfinished project, it did not have glass or the original regulators

Re: 1950 Side Glass Not going to the top when up

I HATE reproduction parts! OMG I will do ANYTHING but use reproduction parts. There is almost no adjustment on those windows because it's not needed it's not a hard top for goodness sakes it's not rocket science! Geeez the damn thing should work without much thought. I HATE reproduction parts!

Brian

ps: did I mention I am not real fond of reproduction parts?

Curt where have you been? Can you show a pic or video of the regulator? Probably can't really see it in the door. Maybe a tooth timing issue with the gears?

I agree with Brian on reproduction parts. Seems like there is no effort to make them correctly....just to make something that looks right and make money from it...wether it works correctly or not. Very frustrating!

Re: 1950 Side Glass Not going to the top when up

Thinking back 45 years when I had just bought my 48 and was changing windows to replace the broken ones one arm on the regulator may have caught on something inside the door not allowing the window to go all the way up. I can't remember much more about it but remember that something was hanging up.

You do have the roller that goes in the track in the door in that track right. I fought that deal once or twice.

Re: 1950 Side Glass Not going to the top when up

Maybe the bolt in that holds the window frame to the channel? It's too big or something originally it was a round headed clutch head screw, maybe you put a bolt so the roller can't get past it?
