Drive line questions

Just dropped a LQ4 in my 1960 suburban build is on this site. i have all angles correct for the drive line and was wondering what everyone is doing i would like to go as small O.D. as possible do to some upward clearance issues. Everything i am reading says i need to be at like 6" O.D. for 55" length what is everyone doing or am i just reading incorrectly?

X- frame? I went two-piece because of X tunnel issues.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a 2pc driveshaft as long as you use a good HD carrier bearing. I am not familiar with what is available for the '60-'62's but it looks like LVPhotos has a good strong driveshaft assembly.

thanks LVPHOTOS I read you stream good stuff really nice tuck. DO you have any better photos of where you mounted the carrier bearing? or did the drive line shop do it for you? Looks like that's the way I'm going.

I started with the original 283/3 speed, went to the T-5 in 98? Original shaft shorted and T5 built Buy Adams Driveline. My 400 block was found in garbage can for $100-- lol. Now the new Eaton gear drive Tru-track and drive shaft built by them. They build Jeep stuff all day, bus, limo, low rider and odd stuff. Check FB page for hard evidence how we abuse shafts. We went over issues of the tunnel and even being short bed this was the verdict. I believe it was $600 These guys ship everywhere and are quick in turn around. They work on all my gear boxes.

My drive shaft shop said no more then 60 in on a 1 piece.

Yep. Two piece with a good carrier bearing is the way to go. Had a 2 piece shortened and balanced for my '63 long bed: has held up fine behind my 383.
