That is exactly what I am trying to do in my 86! I wanted a leater bench seat style with some comfort and a faold down console. I am actually looking to use the back seats from a King Ranch ediction Ford (I know, sort of sacriligious, but they look real nice). How much leg room do you have compared to the original seat and how much modification did you need to do to make them work in the cab? Plus, any more pictures you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Sorry I missed your question 8 months ago I actually used a Hi-Lift Jack mounting bracket to help create the inboard mount. I cut the bracket in half then welded it to the Suburban seat frame. Hi-lift jack bracket that I cut in half. Worked perfectly Here are the seats after re-upholstery 2010 GMC center fabric

Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
2007 Subaru Impreza buckets and a Blazer console in my '71 stepside. Not a 73-87, but I've done the same thing with an 85. I did a how to, that works for most odd-ball buckets from wrecking yards. Last edited by SeniorVerde; 11-04-2014 at 05:53 PM. |

Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
Carboncrew, I like those, how wide are they? I tired to fit an early 90' series bench in my 86' but it was not wide enough and didn't line up with the steering wheel.
Thanks! |

These are the new seat sitting on an old bench frame. The seats are actually pushed tight together in this pic so once mounted and proper gap between the seats adjusted they were a little wider than what this shows. |

Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
[QUOTE=carboncrew;6904553]These are 2nd row seats from a honda odyssey ('take outs' from handicap conversion vans). Cheap, new and matched the 91 chevy light gray perfect led me to this decision.
These are the brackets I had to make: Once again very clean truck , Im not into aftermarket seating,,,, though you nailed it, and that truck all aroud, with your burb upgraded burlwood interior, mirrors. and of course black, that pick-up would fit in at my house.

Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
I appreciate the offer, I'll probably stick with my buckets for a while though. I have to use them for my center console that holds the tablet and camera system.

Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
I did pretty much the same thing 86jimmy4x4 did with his seats, except i threw in a center jump seat from a 2003 pickup that I got from Ebay. Everything bolted in. No cutting and welding involved. I slid the center jump seat front brackets underneath the bucket seat brackets, and drilled the inside mounting holes through the floor, and got creative with some clamp style bracket for the back of the center jump seat. All in all it took me about 4 hours to do everything by my self. Went from factory torn up bench and red carpet to black carpet from LMC, Procar bucket seats and adapter brackets, purchased from summitracing. I think it turned out all right. The seats aren't sitting too high, and the steering wheel can be used inline with the steering column. I don't have to tilt it up more than center with the column.
