airride 200psi

anyone running 200psi in there tank, using a single viair 444c (max200psi) and a manual paddle switch system, the tank i have is a alloy 4 gallon one which is rated 200psi, but im worried the the pressure is to high, the vendor says it will be ok at them pressures... your thoughts please

I would not be concerned about 200 PSI as far as the tank goes. I left my engine driven York compressor on in manual once and was at over 275 psi in the tank when a air line let go with a loud pop. Normally the tank will have a safety factor of 2 times the listed max pressure.

Viair says the duty cycle of a single pump is 50% and the dual setup 100% at 200 psi so as long as you don't exceed the duty cycle you should be fine

im more worried about the push on barb fittings on the backs of the manual paddle switches holding at 200psi, i could also fit a blow of safety valve on the tank at say 210psi

if the cycle is off and on, a 50% duty cycle means it has to be off half of the time, so 5 minute fill time would mean a 5 minute rest time before restarting. a 100% duty cycle can be run continuously.

you can use a regulator to lower the pressures to the valves, but use a high quality one that does not limit flow rate. I would never run 200psi on a barbed fitting.

good idea on the regulator...
the duty cycle isn't a problem as i only drive it to a show dump it then lift when i want to come home, its not up and down loads of times in a day.. during the week when im using it as a daily i just leave it at ride height!

Dude, 200 psi is a LOT of pressure. The system begins operating on a slim safety margin. That's why most shop compressors and most semi truck air systems limit at about 125. Maybe it'll handle it, but if there are any weaknesses in the system 200 psi will sure expose them. Are you trying to substitute pressure for volume? Maybe you should upgrade to more compressor and bigger tank.

i agree which is why i posted on here for advice... ive tried to add volume by piggy backing a spare 2 gallon tank to the system, but it made little difference only by increasing pressure did i see improvements adding another compressor will only quicken the refill... i think

Sqweaka-

I guess we need to back up a little - what problem were you trying to solve by increasing the pressure to 200psi?

IIRC you have a Jag IFS on airbags. I have the same setup with a 4 gallon tank and a Viair compressor, but I'm not on the road yet. Curious on how that setup is working (or not) and what problems you're having. I have a 180PSI shutoff on a steel 4 gallon tank and a Viair compressor that will support a 100% duty cycle. I am using 3/8" hard line to plumb the tank and airbags
