73-87 front suspension on 60-62 c10 questions

Hey y'all, I'm in the process of doing this now and I just want to have a thread to ask a few questions. First off, I know that only 1 hole on the sides will line up. What about the 3 on the bottom of the crossmember? Two on each side line up but the 3 does not

the three bottom ones should line up...since those are the ones to put it in the correct position. I did have to drill a couple in the sides.. even I think one of those lined up....there is a thread here that has pics somewhere...need to do a search..good luck

Re: 73-87 front suspension on 60-62 c10 questions

Well heres where I'm at. One of the bottom bolts fits (the middle). I could switch the bottom bolt to fit in any of the 3 but this is where the top rear bolt (the one that needs to be slotted) seems to fit best. The end of the crossmember to the end of the shock mount is 5.5" on both sides. Am I doing something wrong or am I just overthinking it too much?

I can't figure out how to resize photos so heres the album.

Re: 73-87 front suspension on 60-62 c10 questions

In the photo you posted it shows the upper rear holes are the ones that line up the best. On my 62 I used these holes to locate the new cross member to the frame. I did not slot them, I only enlarged them due the larger bolt size used in the later cross members. After installing bolts in those upper rear holes, I leveled the top of the cross member with bottom of the frame and drilled or slotted the rest of the holes.

The bolt holes for the cross member to bottom of the frame do not all line up. The spacing is different front to back for the 60-62 vs the later years. Check post #9 in the link - http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=703583
You are going to need to re-drill or slot those holes on each side, although a couple of them may line up. And you are going to have a gap between the bottom of the frame and the cross member that will need some shimming so the bolts tighten up properly.

I think that thread is showing a 66. (63-66)
The OP is doing a 60-62.
