Re: Fender undercoat?
I'm more experienced with Model A Fords; it is imperative that you coat the underside of the fenders or you will get outward rock dents in them from the tires throwing stones. I've owned 3 ADs however, and never seen those rock dings in any of the fenders, despite the trucks being very high mileage. Maybe in their original configuration they didn't go fast enough to fling rocks ;-)

Thinking about it, the right rear fender is the one I coated with spray-on polyester filler. Most of the filler was sanded back off but it's possible that the filler type makes a difference. |

Re: Fender undercoat?
after 35,000 miles i wish i had done a little more paint protection on truk
spent a lot of time under the cab working on brakes last month and noticed issues front edge of the bed steps have a lot of chipped paint as do the bottom of the rockers i thing 3M Scotchgard-Clear-Paint-Protection film would have done wonders in those areas i did 3m film on the painted cab steps and it has held up well, still no scratches in the steps well area

Re: Fender undercoat?
I used SEM bed liner and rolled it on heavy. It should offer some protection from minor stone bruises and sand. It should clean up easy too...
