VORTEC OIL PAN from a 99 burb fit my 81 GMC?

I am rebuilding a 99, 5.7L roller vortec 'R' engine for my 81. I like the oil pan and windage tray on the vortec engine. will this stock suburban oil pan fit the square? thanx, Crossy

Blocks should be the same, I would measure the pan and check to make sure the dip stick is in the same location (should be).
Double check just to make sure no one put in an older block from pre 79.
55-79 was different, but 80-99 (or whenever they changed block) should all be the same Oil pan.

If you are wanting to know if the oil pan will fit the chassis and clear the crossmember and what not, yes, it will.

The '99 L31 oil pan will not fit the '81 block.

customizing the top end of the engine, better cam/springs- dual plane air gap. also the crank is worn out, so I will buy new or reman.
My engine was a 100% complete L31, and I noticed that oil pan in center had more of a taper than drop step like 81 pan had. but my ? is answered ,and I will proceed. I wanted to run the 99 pan because it has a small windage tray inside I want to retain, and also I can just keep buying 99 engine parts :-) - thanks guys
