Factory th400 transmission

I’ve skimmed the posts on here about it but I was curious on whether or not a factory 400 transmission was available behind a factory 327 in a 1/2 ton pickup. Looking at one and was curious if it was possible in a 1/2 ton or if it was a 3/4 ton and up option. Gear indicator shows park R N D L1 L2. Just was curious on if possible and roughly an amount built with them. Thanks

Re: Factory th400 transmission

I've never seen a factory installed TH400 in a C10, only in the C20's. But that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Re: Factory th400 transmission

Reported here that it was a possible option. GM Heritage Center should provide an answer under vehicle kits. Will need to look 66’ with factory turbo 400, shift indicator. The one you reported, maybe for 67’ up trucks- not sure.

Re: Factory th400 transmission

The guy here that had a factory roller cam most likely had a factory th400 in his c10.

Re: Factory th400 transmission

I think the TH400 was introduced in model year 1964 for Cadillac and Buick, then the following year for Olds and Pontiac. I don't think the TH400s were used in trucks until the 1970s.

Re: Factory th400 transmission

I have seen a few '65-'66 C20's with TH400's from the factory. One was a '66 GMC that came from the factory with a V6 and TH400.

For 1966, the three speed automatic was not listed as optional equipment for C10, as it was for C20.

Yep, not in the half-ton/C10s until the '70s.
