Drive line and rear end shim questions
I'm currently making a change to my 70 LWB. I removed the drop blocks the PO had put on and going with 5" drop springs in the rear. It had a wicked vibration before which I believe is why I had to replace the carrier bearing. My question is should I put some angled shims to help with the drive line angle? I have read some of the previous post on the subject but, need some clarification. I have a 2 piece driveshaft. My goal is to get this rear done soon so I can tackle the front. I've managed to buy new parts for my front over the last few months. I am learning as I am going on all this.

Re: Drive line and rear end shim questions
You will need to get a angle finder and check all of the angles of the drive shafts, the transmission yoke and the rear end pinion. Doing this will allow you to make the right adjustments to get a vibration free drivetrain. Just adding shims blindly may make your problem worse. There are numerous threads on this. Here is one with an external link and a links to my own drivetrain setup. I hope this helps.

Re: Drive line and rear end shim questions
What H0455 said, angle finder behind trans, match angle at rear pinion....I messed up my welds on axle pads and added drop blocks with angle cut to match my error.....aluminum block cut length wise if shims don't work.
