Re: 59 Apache project 2018

welded cross member is there for good. not much chance youre gonna change anything once it's welded in. you gotta have your rake angle, ride height etc figured out before you weld it in. you also need to know how the geometry works so things work properly because it is assembled by the welder (or you)
the bolt in is all figured out for you so the centerline of the upper and lower control arms is preset. you just need to get the axle centerline where you like it and the rake angle where you like it. if it turns out in the wrong place it is moveable by unbolting stuff. no welder required, assembled by you.
no matter who the manufacturer you should compare apple to apples. diameter and wall thickness of control arm tubing. thickness of the steel for the cross member, size of brakes, type and manufacturer of the ball joints, tie rods etc etc. try calling one of the tech lines and ask some direct tech questions, see if they have any answers or if you get vague directions etc.

Removed the doors, gas tank, seat, front grill tonight. Feeling good working on the truck and not climbing a ladder working on the garage.

Also, now that I got the truck in the air, I noticed the right front leaf is 5 springs and the left front is 7. Lots of reason to scrap the whole front suspension. Thanks for all the input.
