58-59 Fleetside Tail Lamp Question
Hi all...
Just doing some wiring and I have a question regarding the tail lamps. 1) Do they have a gasket at all between the lens and the housing. 2) If not does that same face then meet the whole way around the housing/lens as mine only seems to fit 70% of the circumference. 3) does anyone sell repop tail lamp housings (i can only find lens's) 4) does anyone sell a screw set as my truck came torn apart and I dont know what they look like (read cant find in the misc screws box i was supplied). Regards Q |

Re: 58-59 Fleetside Tail Lamp Question
OK - So I just searched Classic Parts (rather than industries) and found the missing gaskets, screws and so have answered my own questions for 1, 2 & 4
Really only want to know about the aligning of the lens on the housing now Q |

Re: 58-59 Fleetside Tail Lamp Question
Not quite sure what your challenge is but maybe I can help.
The bezel goes on the truck before the pot. If you try to install the pot first, the bezel won't fit snug. One thing I did with mine was I added a small wore ground strap from the pot to box side because the screws that mount the pot are "supposed" to ground but may not do a good job. The first picture is wrong installation, the second is correct.

Re: 58-59 Fleetside Tail Lamp Question
I'm not the best at explaining so here's a pic.
I'm pretty sure that the lens to the body should be flat to each other or at least have a gasket or something to stop water getting in. I'm guessing as both of mine look like the pic that someones dropped it on its arse at some stage when removing the wellside. I also have 2 sets of the aluminium housings, i painted white and some black ones that are bent also. |

Those aren't hard to straighten- cut a hole a little bigger than the cup in a board, then push/tap/adjust until they are to your liking.

Every piece is flat mounted so tweak the light pot until it's also flat and then you're good to go.

Re: 58-59 Fleetside Tail Lamp Question
Good on painting the inside bright white. that really helps the light output.
