Ls swap with 6.0 from Chevy express?

Looks like the cheapest way to get an ls and trans for a swap in my area is to buy a used Chevy express van with 6.0. I have been looking around and see no reason not to buy one. Anything wrong with the van motor and trans setup?

If you reuse the vans wiring harness they are longer which is a bonus for locating the PCM somewhere like in the cab under the seat. Other than that the combo should work fine. Probably need to replace the dipsticks which will be pretty long.

You'll probably be replacing dipsticks anyway. The dipstick is distinctly unhandy when removing/replacing manifolds and when pulling/setting the engine. In my limited experience, the dipstick doesn't come out of the block in usable condition. It's been crushed and mutilated from the vice grip and hammer used in pulling it.

I used a ly6 out of a 2008 savanna van , harness worked great. I freshened up engine and tranny as was high miles. Added a cam and ls3 intake, stall convertor engine rips good

Re: Ls swap with 6.0 from Chevy express?

I just bought a 03 Chevy express with lq4. Seems like a pretty straightforward swap. The only thing I didn’t consider is that my frame is z’ed in the front which may give me problems fitting the trans

Probably have to use a high hump trans cover or make your own

Trans dipstick is ~5" longer to clear the point where it would tuck under the cowl in the van.
