62 Turn Signal housing rotates
My 1962 turn signal housing (manual column shift) will rotate if you pull up or down on the lever too hard. By too hard, I mean using it normally, not trying to "make" it move. My signals would self cancel sometimes and other times need to be "held" to stay on. What I noticed today is that the entire housing will rotate with the lever, which puts the detente in the wrong position to hold the signal on. There is a locking ring with three tabs that holds the housing/signal plate to the lower column. With the screws tight, the housing will still rotate. Is there supposed to be a locating tab or pin or notch for the lock ring to sit on or into so the ring does not allow the housing to rotate? All three tabs are in slots as shown in the shop manual, there just isn't enough friction to keep the housing from moving.
Thanks for any help. Bob |

Re: 62 Turn Signal housing rotates
It 'sounds' like your missing a couple of screws at the base of the housing, see post's starting at #18 - http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=330513
At about 3:24 in this vid - https://youtu.be/CCUt6fJN8EE Then again, you may have mismatched parts.
