Identifying Parts Help - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

My dad and I are trying to put back together our 1986 Sierra that was stolen and trashed. We are trying to identify some parts.
The first is the metal stem that is sticking out with zig zag pattern (see image)
The second is the plate in image #2.
Both in the steering column.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

your best bet is to find another coulm .its a lot easyer and faster that way.but here is a breakedown on rebuilding one http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/w...ck_Rebuild.pdf
