Modding a C20
I know of a 61 C20 sitting on a farm not far from me. It looks pretty staright from 200 feet away and 40mph. Before I approach the owner, school me a little. Would this be a difficult truck to do the typical stuff to- lower, disc brakes, power steering? Does anyone even make drop spindles for 60-62 C20? I've searched here and found a few modded 64_66 c20s but no knee-knockers.
I guess a broader question is what are the differences between 1\2 and 3\4 ton? I believe they had a thicker frame and trailing arms, different a arms, ball joints, and tie rod ends, bigger axle and drums, and heavier springs. What else? Thanks! |

The 60-61 have torsion bar front suspension and the 63-66 are coil. The 60-62 have Eaton HO rear diffs, parts aren’t readily available and expensive,
You could convert to 1/2 ton. They make drop spindles for 60-66 1/2 ton.

To clarify, I don't really have a need or desire to keep the 3\4 ton stuff, like the 8 lugs. It's more just an open question of what to know if I did find a C20 with great sheet metal. Tho I'd feel bad butchering one because someone might be looking specifically for a 20.

Yeah if your not looking to keep it 3\4 ton 8 lug stuff then it would be easier to just convert it to 1\2 ton stuff at time of lowering.
