Relocate coils on ls swap?

I am getting the stock truck harness rewired. I shipped it off a while ago. I think he’ll oretty much do anything I like but this got me wondering. I suppose this might be a fairly specific audience but I’d like to ask anyway. For those that have swapped in an ls, AND relocated the coils, AND (this may not matter) have a turbo manifold on the pass side, can you recommend where or how to relocate the coils while I have time to get the wire harness set now? I was thinking possibly the top side of the frame rail on each side?

Re: Relocate coils on ls swap?

I don't know anything about and ls. So I have a question(s) the coils are designed for the valve covers so their close to the plug, will the spark be weaker the further from the plug? Another question would be would you need to insulate the coils for vibration if you mount them to the frame? The motors insulated. I know this doesn't help but just some food for thought.

Why are you wanting to relocate the coils from the valve covers? Top of the frame rails you'd still see the wires, which to me defeats the purpose a bit. Why not just run coil covers like in the photo?
