New front bumper
I purchased a new premium bumper from LMC, not sure the gauge difference in the steel from factory to aftermarket but it is lighter and somewhat flexible, name on the box is TriPlus. Finish is nice but I went through 3 bumpers and finally number 4 was a good one. Fortunately I picked it up so didn’t have shipping.
I bought new stainless capped bumper bolts but didn’t like they how the seated against the bumper. I ended up using stainless carriage bolts and polished the top, not an exact replacement but looks close. |

Re: New front bumper
I have been looking around for bumpers for my Suburban for a while now.
I have been ready to pull the trigger on the LMC Premium bumpers for a while, but something always seems to come up. This worries me, that you said they were flimsy/light. Any other good sources for chrome bumpers? I have read good things about autometaldirect, but was wanting more opinions.

Re: New front bumper
It’s the only aftermarket bumper I’ve seen so not sure how it compares with others. I knew it wouldn’t be as heavy as the original but it looks good.
Not sure what was up with the first three bumpers, it was something in the plating process on one end, they all had the same issue in the same area. It was a bit of a pain and took some time but glad the guy at LMC was patient until I found a good one. |

Re: New front bumper
I hear ya on NOS but I haven’t had any luck with bumpers. I did keep the original to have it re-chromed some day.

Re: New front bumper
A local plating shop wanted $350 to strip and replate my bumper, so I looked around and found a used OEM presentable one in Phoenix. I sold the original bumper with a slight tweak in it for $35, paid $50 for the other one, including two bumper guards. I sold the bumper guards on Ebay for $45, so after 250 miles of fuel spent to pick up the bumper I was about even. Worth the hunt for me.
