Re: 1964 camper
Cleaned the engine compartment up a little bit and pulled the carb to get gone through. I went ahead and changed points, rotor, and cap..planned on changing plugs and wires until I saw the original gm wires still on it. Can’t pull them off lol definitely needed the cap and points though, they’d been changed before. Next is to blast the valve cover and get it paint the right color st least. Not sure if I’ll repaint the pushrod covers when I regasket them.

Re: 1964 camper
To add on to this, many city and counties have ordinances prohibiting parking of campers even in your own driveway, (like mine, which would kill the camper immediately for me )

Re: 1964 camper
Wow! Super time capsule. What a find! If cleaned and detailed correctly, this could be a show worthy jewel.
I'm in agreement with Factorystock on the fact that with a little effort this rig could be finished out as a regular C20 pickup and look mint/original. Many chassis mounted motorhome style campers had the rear of the cab cut out for passage from the cab to the coach. This one looks like it never even had a "boot" installed in place of the rear window. That's very rare! Having said that, well preserved camper units of this vintage are even harder to find than survivor pickups. The decision to scrap the camper or not would kinda depend upon if you were keen on camping, full weekend swap meets, going to the races, dirt bike riding, etc., all the while having the coolest rig at any given gathering. Before making a decision on which way to go, I suggest you "sleep on it" ... in the camper, that is! Last edited by oem4me; 07-30-2019 at 11:31 PM. |

Re: 1964 camper
LOVE this camper, congrats on a MAJOR score!
Looks like the J-rail may be leaking along the top edge of the wall. You can get Putty (Butyl) tape at Ace Hardware or Vintage trailer supply. https://www.vintagetrailersupply.com...rch=butyl+tape NEVER use caulk in a camper or trailer! |
