Should brake lights work with key off?

Dumb question... As the title says, should the brake lights on my '66 work when the key is off?

I rewired everything a couple years ago, and the truck has sat ever since. Now that I'm about to get it back on the road for Greaserama this weekend, I noticed last night they work with the key off, but I can't remember if they are supposed to.

Yes, that's pretty normal.

Yep, that is normal and I think a federal requirement for safety.

We were given two ears and one mouth for a reason... listen twice as much and speak half as often...

Ok, thanks fellas! I had some grounding problems when I was replacing all of the wiring, and just wanted to make sure I haven't screwed something up. Sounds like all is well.
