How to mount ECM
I am at a point where I need to mount the ECM in this 1963 GMC. My LS1, computer, wire harness, and gas pedal are out of a 2005 Chevy pickup.
Can anyone send photos of where to mount the stock computer for an LS1 swap ? I am looking for the best location everyone else may have found by trial and error How about photos of how to mount the fire by wire pedal ? Where did you have the wiring harness penetrate into the cab ? Thanks |

Re: How to mount ECM
You need to go to engine and drivelines then click on LS swap. I put mine under the seat, some people put it on the inside of the firewall others put it on and inner fender

Re: How to mount ECM
In my "69 I put it under the radio on the floor, then made a small console to cover it.

Re: How to mount ECM
It can go pretty much anywhere you want. The problem with a lot of the truck engine harnesses though is that they are pretty short. You probably won't be able to get it inside the cab without extending the wires. I plan to put mine on the firewall. Really no reason not to, except for cosmetics.

Re: How to mount ECM
My reworked stock wiring harness (Gen IV 5.3L) is too short for anywhere but on the driver side inner fender of my 65 C10. I plan to try to run my air intake to the drivers side and I'm thinking that the air filter will cover it a bit so it's less noticeable. At least the Gen IV ECM is smaller in size.

Re: How to mount ECM
this is on my square but I re routed all the wires, shortened them, re pinned them, and kept the PCM in the engine compartment on the driver side inner fender, you can also see my DIY fuse block behind it on the firewall - if I recall correctly the injectors have the shortest wires so they will dictate the final resting place of the PCM but no wires needed lengthening - I did buy some proper tools to help unpinning and crimping the PCM connectors

I kept mine in the engine bay behind the driver headlight area. I moved the horns to the passenger side. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...659275&page=32

Re: How to mount ECM
I had my truck harness lengthened to allow me to put the PCM under the seat. As for the pedal mounting, I would HIGHLY recommend buying the pedal bracket that a fellow member here sells in the LSX classifieds. Top notch.
