1978 Chevrolet Blazer picked up.
Yesterday I picked up the blazer that I had posted about before. The weather was perfect and If I didn’t grab it now would probably be sitting there until spring. Put a set of ralley wheels on it and probably like those better than the wagon wheels. Cleaned out the interior a bit and ripped off the running boards. Looks much better now. Should make a nice truck. Not quite sure what I will do with it but it was too nice of a truck to leave out for someone to strip parts off of. It is now lubed up and in a building out of the weather.

Questions
As you can see my tailgate latch is missing. I can see that I can find the bolt on latch but I don’t have the core. I have the keys to the ignition and doors but can a core for the latch be located with my key number? On the latches I see on eBay I don’t see how they engage the pawl that cranks up the window. Maybe I am missing something. Any help appreciated. Posted via Mobile Device |

Blazer looks good. I moved this to the Blazer area so you would have a better chance at getting an answer.

just have to get one rekeyed to your key. lmc has diagrams that might show how it all works.

Re: 1978 Chevrolet Blazer picked up.
Locdoc might be able to help you with re-keying a new rear window crank.

Re: 1978 Chevrolet Blazer picked up.
LMC does have a diagram. With the window crank removed from the gate the key tumbler can be removed and re-keyed by your local locksmith. I bought a new tumbler for the crank on my 79 and had this done.
Edit to add, interesting truck - I don't think I've ever seen that color combo before. Congrats on the purchase and I look forward to seeing it running. |
