283...OIL Q's...
Simple Question...How much oil is needed for a stock 283? Is it 4 or 5 quarts? I've always had my oil done on the fly and noticed that I've always had to add oil after an oil change (seems like half a quart?). Like they weren't putting enough in?? Or is it they have been putting 4 quarts and it needs half a quart??
Oh, can anybody suggest a good oil to use? Thanks in advance! Brian

...normally the pans are 5 quart but depending on what filter they use it could hold a bit more..there probably using a larger filter which holds more oil......

My 283 holds 5 quarts. When it had the canister filter though it did hold at least a half a quart more oil though.
I use Mobil Oil myself.
