Looking at my first blazer
Going to look at a 72 blazer tomorrow, looks to be pretty straight, originally was a six cylinder with no real power options. Appears to be maybe an old highway department truck, switched to v8 and automatic transmission. They’re asking 9,000 will take 8,000 on it right now is where we’re at. But being my first dive into blazers, what’s a decent price range for this. I was planning on finishing the interior on my 71 big block c10 and maybe seeing about a partial trade for a blazer down the road or sell it for one. Have a bunch of pickups, wouldn’t mind a blazer. Let me know what you guys think.

Re: Looking at my first blazer
Has the buckets in it still but no rear seat. You can see in one picture some rust on the kick panel where it meets the floor

Re: Looking at my first blazer
I would check out the rocker boxes underneath and any rust in the rear of the tub. It looks decent and if not too rusty the price seems in line.

Re: Looking at my first blazer
Looks promising, other rust areas rear inside tailgate as well as top of windshield, and the rocker / torsion boxes is critical, most costly to repair. When was the last time 1 of these showed up with original wheels and hub caps?

Re: Looking at my first blazer
As others have already mentioned, sure looks promising. I'm a fan of that medium green on these Blazers. Hope you get it and for the price you want, keep us posted.

Re: Looking at my first blazer
That looks pretty solid. The only rust mine has is the same spot you have shown. I think that’s a fair price for a rig in that shape.

Re: Looking at my first blazer
worth 8k all day if it runs/drives/stops/starts - not all Blazers came with the rear seat. My 72 2wd did not come with a back seat and the floor had no provisions for one.

Re: Looking at my first blazer
Well everyone I appreciate the advice and help. Unfortunately like so many of these old pickups it’s always best to go take a look because what looks too good to be true usually is. It’s a nice original unmolested blazer which is nice, bought new by fish and game here in Kansas then sold to the Salina ks votech where it was painted white and used to have a snow plow up front. Crawled around it and found the rocker boxes were long gone, driver side floor pan had a piece of tin riveted over what was left, rusty firewall, rusted out mounts and the rear floor by the tailgate was rusted out as well. Had one good rear quarter panel on the driver side and ran like a top, and the actual top was very nice too, not sure it had ever been off. Very rusty old girl, too rich for my blood at 7500 that they came down to but sometimes the best deals are the ones we don’t make. Was nice to get some experience as to what to look for when looking at these.

Re: Looking at my first blazer
None of that seems really out of the place for these trucks. Blazers are starting to fetch more and more money and they are getting harder to find. I still don’t think it’s that bad of a deal for a running and driving blazer

Re: Looking at my first blazer
For the amount of rust that needed repaired, it wasn’t worth 7500 bucks. I could go buy one with the same rust for 4,000 a couple hours from me. Even at that price they’ll have some rust but not this much. Between the floors, rockers and boxes, rear cargo floor, firewall rot...pretty steep in my opinion. But it’s still for sale if someone wants it

Re: Looking at my first blazer
Yeah, sounds like more rust then you can see in the pictures. Grab one for 4K. Blazers at that price don’t come up for sale very often in Phoenix.
