Thanks guys, it has been fun to think outside of the box a bit on how to make this all work. We thought about a shelf on the inside, but we will see what all happens.

We actually talked about making a couch out of the bed as the next project, we will see if we get that far, have to finish this one first!

Over the weekend we got the concrete poured. Some photos of the process are attached. We also used a dye for the tops, which is why the one bucket is a bit of an orangey color. The tops will not be that color, but will be a light tan when they are done and dried. We will let them dry for about a week in the forms before we take them out.

Well we pulled the forms off, the tops turned out ok. The large front piece came out with some funky discoloration but we are going to try and sand it down and see if it will buff out. We tried it on the side and it turned the cloudiness went away. Next step will be figuring out how to support them once they are on the front clip.

Also, any suggestions on how to wire the lights so that the headlights aren't super bright and all the way on, but rather on and glowing?

You can wire the headlights in series instead of in parallel and that will give them 6V each and they will be dim. That may make halogen bulbs burn out quicker than normal. If you have trouble with the bulbs burning out you can try to get non-halogen bulbs, but that may be challenging to find. You could probably grind off the element end of the glass if you're very careful doing it (think face shield, gloves, jacket, etc.), to open the back end, and then just lay an outdoor Christmas bulb in there, or stuff a string of Christmas mini bulbs in there.

Yep, works great. I did this with a cheepo set of LED lights from Harbor Freight. Once the bulbs were in the light, I "glued" them in with black rtv silicone.
