4" lift for 91 fullsize blazer
I have recently bought a 1991 fullsize Chevy Blazer, and would like to lift it. Who makes a good kit for these trucks? What experiences have you had with lifted blazers? Thanks in advance.

Most of them I have had I used 4" lifts. If you go to 6", you have to do a lot more steering correction, longer brake lines, driveline correction, etc. I have had good luck with the Pro Comp kits, from 4 wheel parts wholesalers. They also have a showroom here locally, so that helps. Check out their ad in one of the 4WD magazines.

Thanks for the reply. What size tires are you able to run with a 4" lift? Are there any driveability problems? The reason I ask is I have never had a lifted vehicle before, and I don't know what kind of stuff to expect.

What are you planning to do with the truck? What gears do you have, or going to go to? 33's will fit with no problem at all, 35's will go with some minor trimming. Your 91 should have double shocks on the front, that seems to help the ride a lot! If you are not going to do any extreme off roading, and plan to stay on the road, I like 35's. If you are going to that tall of a tire, you will have to go to a lower gear. My experience has been you will need at least 3.73's with a 33" tire, and 4.11's with a 35. At least. 4WPW suggested 4.56's with 35's. I am assuming you still have the 700R4 since it is a 91, so the lower gears will actually help mileage with the bigger tires. I put 35's on my 86 Suburban with 6" of lift, and there was a ton of room in the wheel openings. I sold the truck before I swapped gears, and it was a dog.
It may feel a little loose until you get used to it because of the sidewall flex, but that is easy to get used to. The satisfaction of looking over everyone will make that go away quickly.

I just want a decent size tire so the truck looks good going down the road. I really don't plan on doing much off-roading, just driving in the winter on snowy roads. I live in Michigan, so the winters can be pretty harsh at times. I know 33's are a little wide, but I think if I buy the right tire, it shouldn't be much of a problem. I don't really recall seeing double shocks on the front, though. Are you talking about a lift kit having double shock mounts?

You can fit 33's with fender trimming on the storck 15 x8 rims. More trimming to fit a 15x 10 with 4 inch back space. 32's will fit stock with no mods on stock rims.

I have a 90 jimmy and went with the shackle flip and tc 4 inch ez rides upfront and then zero rates front and rear netting me 5 inches. I can stuff a 33 and still fit in the fenderwell. (im a small guy) ith anything over 4 go with a tleast a 35. My jimmy would fit 33's stock and barely rubbed when fully turned to the left so you should not have anyprobs. Here is a pic of mine (how it used to look) with 5 inches and 33's.
