Body mount bushing preference

Restoring 75 Silverado 4x4. Welding in floor pans looking for opinions on new body cushions . Rubber or Poly. Who makes good quality

as pricey as they are LMC has similar to factory.. I have used an aftermarket kit on one of my builds also rubber and didnt like them as well not looking factory at all..ive never used poly

The one time I used poly on a truck that did a fair amount of dirt road and field driving, the poly caused the sheet metal around the mounts to crack. The sheet metal was not thin, but the poly just doesn't flex enough. Great for suspensions in my opinion, but not for body mounts. I prefer the factory style rubber mounts.

Another vote for rubber. Poly is too rigid for me and too many squeaks to live with.

I bought LMC rubber mounts for my truck, and they started cracking in short order. I wish I knew where good ones could be obtained.

I have the LMC rubber ones. I have not had issues with cracking after 3 years (knock on wood). However I remember they were a PITA to install - felt like that rubber doughnut needed to be about 1/16" larger on the inside, it took a lot of effort to get the top mount to fit into the bottom.

No problems with energy suspension poly bushings. Would (will) do it again for my '81. Also run ES bushing on my nova, had them in since ES introduced them way back when. But I don't do field driving or very rough roads.

I used Energy Suspension poly mounts too, they even survived a roll over.

One of my old C/10s is still running around here with a set ES polyurethane bushings that I put on it close to 30 years ago.
I had to change the factory rubber bushings on my 2000 k2500 5 years ago, and the body had been sagging for a few years when I did it then, so those rubber ones only last 12-13 years.

LMC rubber on my C30, no complaints so far. Identical to the stockers, can't speak to their longevity since I put them on fairly recently. Go a long way toward making the truck feel tighter on the road and the cab's body lines now align with those on the bed.

I'm using rubber. After my experience with several vehicles over the years, I would never use poly on anything other then sway bars, and that's mostly due to not being able to find real rubber sway bushings anymore.

Those are neat, I may give those a try. Wish I could find more information and reviews on them though.

PST has been around a long time, and if I remember right considering its been so long ago they may have been the first ones to introduce the graphite impregnated poly suspension bushings to combat squeeking (not something you'd encounter with a body bushing)

i used rubber kit from lmc and am very happy with it so far. body lines came back,doors close nicer and it rides better. I have no experience with poly bushings so I have nothing personal to compare.

Pardon me for hijacking the thread, I just bought ES poly bushings and am in the process of putting them on. After taking the front cab bushings off, I discovered the sleeve inside the bushing is rusted through and unusable. I found one kit that includes the sleeve, bolt, washer and new rubber for $32 but i was wondering if there was anywhere to purchase just the sleeve?

'78 K10 btw... If i can find them, I'll give you a comparison between the rubber i took off and the poly I'm putting on lol

Anyone other than LMC carry the stock style rubber kits? They're backordered and who knows when they'll get more in.
