Dakota Digital VHX and turn signals

I'm installing the VHX kit with BIM module....all wired up...so I am using the little plug-in turn signal connectors they supply to put the blinkers in the stock location of the dash, I tied them to the DK blue and Lt blue wires from the original cluster connector.

when I turn the key on, both arrows are lit up, and stay that way all the time. I do not have the front light harness hooked up yet, just wires hanging there up front till I finish assembling the front end.

anyone done this before, and am I missing anything by using those cluster connector wires that I pulled from ? Is the reason they are lit constantly due to not having the front harness/bulbs/grounds connected up ?

thanks in advance

Yes, its because you don't have the front lights hooked up. They wont flash either. Hook them up and you should be fine.

Re: Dakota Digital VHX and turn signals

thank you for the quick reply....one less thing to trouble shoot then, I'll leave the flashers alone for now.

fuel gage isn't working....so will focus on the rear of truck and drop the tank to see what's up with it. I ran a ground wire from a screw on the sender, along with the sender wire to the VHX box. Set it to GM90. needle doesn't move

Both of these issues lend me to believe a ground is out of place. I played hell with my front headlights then i realized the ground wasnt installed.... secondly my gas gauge didnt work and found out it was a ground that i forgot to hook up... see the pattern in my ways?
The VHX are awesome arent they?

Re: Dakota Digital VHX and turn signals

Beware of freshly painted vehicles and grounds. On my headlights instead of grounding to the bucket assembly I went back a bit to the rad support. Clean a little down to metal and use those star washers and you'll get a great ground. Rad support is grounded to the frame. Out back I also put a ground wire on the tail buckets instead of relying on the screws to body connection. Probably overkill but easy enough to do.

I also have the Dakota Digital cluster with BIM module. I'm very impressed with it. Only complaint is the clock always goes back to 12:00 every time I start it. No biggy I just change the display to digital speedo.

Re: Dakota Digital VHX and turn signals

Thanks for the advice, I am liking the gages yes, hookup was very smooth with BIM. I didn't run any sensors to engine...using the BUS

I did run ground straps from frame, block, front support tying that together. But out back I did not so might be my issue with the fuel sender. right now the fuel needle does not move off E, so could be a stuck float too I guess. added 10 gal of fuel with no movement
