Vin Plates?

Just wondering if these truck's are supposed to have vin plates on the door sills or where the vin's are supposed to be. supposedly the police don't really appreciate non matching vin's due to cab swaps but so far the only spot I've been able to find the vin is on my door sticker.

Should be stamped somewhere on the pass. side of the frame. Thats where it was on my '78 before I cut it out! Mine was back under the bed. Its hard to see with 25+ years of crud built up on it. I didnt notice mine until we had already shortened the truck.
