Firewall Insulation with Factory A/C

I've done several searches but have not found an answer to my question. I realize that there is not a reproduction firewall insulation pad for trucks with factory air. The issue I am reading is with the evaporator housing which mounts up next to the firewall. Would there be any issue with just cut that section off and only using the driver's side and transmission hump section?

It's up to you I guess. What issues are you referring to? You can still use a product like Flatline Barriers Insulation and Sound Dampening behind the AC unit can't you?

I'm doing FatMat but wanted to do something that was more heat insulation on top of it. Figured a regular firewall cover would look correct vs something that was shiny or looked like carpet padding. I don't remember what it looked like when I pulled the truck apart 14 years ago but have been reading that a non-A/C panel won't work in a factory A/C cab.

If your not using the old original cover i think the repops have sections you can cut out to make it work.

It was a few years ago but I think it is prepunched and you just remove what you don't need. The worst part of installing them is those plastic parts you have to push through the firewall. They are about 3 sizes bigger than the firewall holes.

Thanks, that's also what I've been reading. I think I'll go ahead and order the rubber pieces or run down and see if I can find some of the right sized Christmas tree connectors in the Help section.
