Original base model seat vinyl

Does anyone sell this style seat material?

(stolen from the original truck thread)

The back rest of my seat is still this pattern but starting to split (and the bottoms long since been reupholstered wrong). Here's mine.

NO, you buy the material and then bring it to a upholster to make it up. many members have used them. The seat top and deat back will come molded correctly and all you need to do is have it sewed together. No one make a pre-made kit.

SMS may offer a sewn seat cover. When I ordered the fabric for my seat they offered to sew a complete cover for me.

Re: Original base model seat vinyl

Good writeup on SMS. Ive been seeing stories about people having problems with them. I didnt have any problems with my purchase with them.

https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...=512339&page=4

Here is a thread I started about The Rare Red Seat and on page 4 seems like the original 66 material is no longer available, and problems between the buyers and SMS. Proceed with caution when dealing with them. Has anyone recently dealt with them?

Re: Original base model seat vinyl

There are several places that offer what they call seat upholstery kits. They usually come with hog rings and pliers. You simply take off your old seat cover and put on the new one. They come already sewn together. There are lots of different styles , some that look almost like the one you have. Here are a few companies, but there are more.

www.truckandcarshop.com
www.Raybuck.com
www.lmctruck.com

Lots of choices out there. One of these or another company might have what you want and save you some money in the process. Good luck in your search.

Yeah that's what I was kind of hoping for. When I used to restore 1st gen Firebirds you could get both the standard and deluxe interior sets as complete covers and install them yourself (or take it to the upholstery shop). Seems like all the available prestitched seats aren't quite the style I'm looking for here.

Re: Original base model seat vinyl

I've seen the custom comfort seats redone and they look great, just vinyl and cloth, but I never seen the base model seat redone. It requires embossing the pattern directly into the vinyl. Anyone who has had SMS do their '64-'65 base seat redone, please post photos!
