Also, does anyone know what this is?

Re: Has anyone built a 4x4? I need pictures for my assembly

Are you asking how to build a 4x4 with original 60's parts? Or with newer parts? Will you be keeping your original frame? Or putting your body on a newer frame? 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton?
Are you wanting disc brakes?
Just a few things to think about.

Best to find someone "improving" an original and get all the parts they remove. Lots out there consider the original running gear on a 60-66 4x4 to be suitable only for a boat anchor. (That is another question for a very different thread and really does not have a correct answer, only opinions). Anyway, that is the person you need to find. The parts are out there, and it can be done. Just takes patience, time and money.
Good luck,
Tom

Then I'm guessing you're going to be looking for a original 4x4 so the VIN's are original to a 4x4?
Or do you already have an original 60's 4x4 that you are going to be restoring to original?

Re: Has anyone built a 4x4? I need pictures for my assembly

Sorry guys, I guess I should be more specific. I own 4x4 and sent it to the paint shop and it finally came back 3 years later. Now it's time top put it together and I want to make sure and do it right.

Yes, that helps....
Besides you asking for pictures, there is a few threads that might help you.
The "Most Original Truck in Existence", the "4x4's Gone Wild" and perhaps some of the 4x4 build threads here: https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...play.php?f=197
.
Take some pictures of what you have of the areas of concern, and we might know of a thread that discusses that question.

I guess first off, did these trucks have dual muffler? How was the muffler pipe mounted on the chassis.

Re: Has anyone built a 4x4? I need pictures for my assembly

Sorry, misunderstood the question, disregard my first post.
The factory assembly manual (available from all the usual vendors) has good info on correct exaust, including 4x4 specific differences. I was surprised for instance to find that mine ending before the rear axle was factory correct. Lots of other good info in that book that you will find very helpful.
That's a very nice looking (and rare) truck. Glad you are giving it the factory restoration it deserves.
Lots of great info on this site (they have helped me a lot). Looking forward to seeing how your project progresses.
Tom

Re: Has anyone built a 4x4? I need pictures for my assembly

No, none of these trucks had dual exhaust from the factory, just a single exhaust. The muffler was not mounted to anything other than the pipe on each end. The exhaust pipe would have been hung from a number of flexible hangers. Sorry I don't have any pics. There are likely some on this forum somewhere.

Re: Has anyone built a 4x4? I need pictures for my assembly

On a 4x4 , the muffler gets the only support. Theres a bracket on the frame that arches over it. Then a rubber/fiber strap combination 3-4 inchs long that hangs down to another bracket. There's a Sheetmetal like strap with a T bolt and a hook that support the muffler. So far what I'm finding is , Chevrolets don't seem to have a tail pipe , just a down turn off the muffler. GMCs however have a tailpipe on K series trucks. Ill try and get some pictures of my exhaust for you. Nice looking 60 by the way. Was it originally a Black truck ?

Best thing to do is buy an assembly manual , lots of factory illustrations to show you what went where

Re: Has anyone built a 4x4? I need pictures for my assembly

Heres what I was talking about for the muffler clamp and support for the muffler and turn down for the tailpipe. Shows the tailpipe was used on 1405 and 1406 Panel and Suburban models but not pickups
