MilesMaster: old fuel regulator gas saving device

I found this odd filter-looking contraption on the inlet to my 62 GMC V6 carb.

Turns out to be something from the 50's that was to help with gas. Here is some information on it I found. I had never seen or heard about this before so thought I'd share.

It is all aluminum with a glass bowl and a magnet in the bowl to catch any ferrous metallic particles.

It was to be installed in the fuel line, before the carburetor, and it regulated/lowered the fuel pressure to the carb and thus gave better gas mileage. The inlet and outlet ports are marked (I and O). The fuel enters, flows thru a sintered filter, fills the bowl, then exits thru the regulator. If you read some of the chat lines this is one of the few devices that actually works!

Even back then people were trying to save gas. How funny, probably took the truck from 7mpg to 7.5
