Re: Cigarette lighter or USB or Charging port ???
Here is what I have. I am going to weld in and finish a plate so it looks like it should be there. It has both USB and USB-C. It also is accurate in the voltage. Super cheap on Amazon.

Re: Cigarette lighter or USB or Charging port ???
I ditched the lighter socket and installed an accessory socket wired to the ignition. The lighter still fits in for the original look but it's not functional. I also put in another accessory socket under the dash wired directly to the battery. I can now charge my phone and whatever. My ignition switch does not have an accessory position.

You can always keep the lighter socket.

Re: Cigarette lighter or USB or Charging port ???
If you are going to only have 1 socket I'm with Rocknrod, keep the lighter outlet as its more universal. You can always plug in an adapter to go to usb but not the other way around and there are still a ton of items that use a standard lighter socket style plug.
I have been debating putting both styles in my truck since the GMC dash has two pre cut holes near the glove box that would be decent spot for them. |

Re: Cigarette lighter or USB or Charging port ???
At least on my 63 GMC 1500 there are two holes to the left of the glove box that have little caps pushed into them, figured they were a GMC thing since dash is different than the chevy's.

Re: Cigarette lighter or USB or Charging port ???
I wanted to keep the cigarette lighter housing for originality. I bought an inexpensive volt meter/USB charge port from Amazon and use that to charge my phone. I keep the cigarette lighter in the ashtray with my spare change. Sorry for the blurry look of the volt meter in the pic, its perfectly clear in use.
