HELP! Firewall grommet for AAW front lights harness

Guys any suggestions on how to get the fire wall grommet for the front lights back into the hole? I have tried installing the grommet first then pushing in the wiring harness connector. I have tried putting the connector and grommet together and pushing the whole assembly into the hole. I have tried puttting WD40 or Vaseline on the grommet to get it to slide in. Still have not been able to get the assembly into the firewall hole.

The grommet is the original that came out of the hole, so it is not an aftermarket and is still pliable.

For those that have rewired their trucks with AAW, what did you do to get this connector through the firewall? It’s driven me to curse a few times.

Have you tried rolling up a thin plastic cutting board like in the link below?

Then if you have to cut a slit in a pvc pipe to push it thru.

Got it!
Called AAW about another question and just asked about the grommet while I had support on the phone. He told me to make sure the tapered edge of the grommet was toward the cab and then to push it into the hole from the engine side. Then push the connector into the grommet from the cab side. Worked like a charm!! Had it hooked up in about 5 min.

I guess I need to look at my struggles with it as practice, like my signature banner says!
