First Gen Aftermarket Quarters
Can anybody tell me why no one makes aftermarket quarters for 1st Gens. There are enough Blazers still on the road to warrant a few aftermarket companies selling rocker boxes. You'd think those same rusty Blazers could use some new quarters. Any thoughts?

Some people use swb bedsides but that still requires some pretty tricky work to retrofit them.

I used longbed bedsides to replace mine. Now I have very qualified friends who have a bodyshop and know what they are doing. Each side took about a day.

Ya, I wish someone would repop the whole bedside. I bet your buddies that did yours were cursing you after they got to the door jamb part. Unless you just reused that part. I'm in the process of cutting my inner and outer bedsides apart for rust repair too. Of course, I don't $500 a side to buy new ones either so, you gotta make do with what you got. Gee Emm, how were the bedsides on yours? Gone? How are you conquering that Mountain? Jeff.

I am using bedsides from another Blazer, just repairing them I know that it would be hard to convert truck bedsides. It took me several hours and all those relief cuts to get this piece contoured nicely.
I updated the progress thread with some pics yesterday. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...545#post899545 |

Wow! That has been a bunch of work. Looks a lot like what I started with, but mine wasn't as rotted as yours. I'm doing the bedsides now too. My rot is all along the top though. How have you dealt with the rust inside the bedsides? I'm cutting mine apart and going to sandblast them that way. I thought about having them dipped, but the closest place to do it is in Canada! hehe.

I just have surface rust on the inside, no biggy, I will just reach up in there with a paint brush and put some por-15 on the inside.

Mine is nice and thick. I'll sandblast it and then POR it. Later, Jeff.
