BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

I'm wanting to put buckets in my 84 but not sure what I need to buy.
I have set of 75-76 seats from a Blazer (picture below) that I would like to recover use but dont think the blazer brackets are any help.
Been reading old posts on installing buckets but cant find much on 81-87 installations.

I've looked at the brackets sold by Chop Shop.
But need to decide on a slider/seat combination that will fit the 84 floor.
Have seen some references to using bench seat sliders but not sure if my 84 bench sliders can be used.
Are there any bracket or slider combination that will work with my seats and fit a 1984 cab ?
Any help or advice is appreciated.

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

The seats you have pictured are actually buckets for the truck. And they take the same track sliders from the 73-76 bench seats. But those are only used on the drivers seat. The passenger seat uses brackets.
Your probably not finding much on the 81-87 installations, because those were actually the high back buckets.
And as far as tracks fitting the cab floor, all the tracks will, from 73-87. It’s whether they bolt up to the bottom of the seat. Certain tracks only bolts directly to it’s corresponding seat frame.

The floors should be the same, Use the seat tracks that fit the seats.

The floors aren’t the same, from the trucks to the Blazers. That’s why the tracks & brackets are different. The tracks I have on my buckets, are just like the truck bench seat tracks.

He was referring to the trucks therefore that’s why I said they are the same 😉

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

First of all, thank, you both for your input !
Actually my seats are from a Blazer, have full plastic backs and passenger side has the flip forward brackets.
Looking at the bolt holes, it doesn't look like the 73-75 bench seat brackets will fit my seats.
My seats only have 4 threaded bolt holes that I can see, the ones in the picture that have the bolts in them.
Or am I missing something ?

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

Its because the track themselves do not bolt to the seat frame. There are other brackets that bolt to the seat frame, and then the tracks bolt to those. If you look at the bottom of my seat, the one that has the bench seat tracks. There are other brackets, one of them is broken, that's why the one track is swung out of position. I have all those brackets circled in the photo, they are out to my buddies getting welded back together.
And then the last photo is the passenger seat, which is stationary. It will not tilt forward like the blazer seat. The seat themselves are actually the same. The differences are the mounts and tracks. The blazers use the riser style tacks, because of the flat floor of the Blazer cab floor. The seat, if they go into a truck, will have to use all the tracks that fit the trucks, like the BenchSeat. But they also have other brackets that make the tracks fit the seat. Its confusing, I know. It has taken me awhile to figure all this out, along with some help from other board members.

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

Again, thank you both so much for your time and pictures, you guys are the best.

I'm making a list of needs:
73-75 low back pair of slider brackets for bench seat for driver side.
73-75 low back passenger brackets (4 piece set) for pass. side, from chop shop.
1 pair bench mounting brackets from Chop Shop.
2 'L' shaped brackets, see picture circled in blue, any idea where I could find these ?

I have correct bolts, can you tell me anything I'm leaving out/need ??

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

If you get a complete set from Ken at chop shop squarebody you won’t have to mess with trying to piece together, he also has the center weld in mount which is absolutely necessary for proper installation if your truck didn’t come with factory buckets. Not sure if he has the newer hybrid design that works on the later style of low backs in production yet. If not you can use the earlier style and move the rear inner rivnut.

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

Hooverfish, I can probably help you out with bench seat tracks, the style/year that is shown in the pics. They are 73-76 for the bench seats. And they are exactly the same, I compared them to the tracks on the buckets. I’m pretty sure I probably have an extra set. If I have ever had to scrap the bench seat frame, I kept whatever parts I could use. I’ll do a count on my 73-76 bench seat frames versus the tracks. If I have extras, then I’ll let you know.

I took your advice and bought set from Ken, excellent products. Got them installed and ready
for test fit in the truck in a few days. Hope I dont have anything mounted backwards.
I did have to move mounting hole on the passenger seat from 5" to 3.75" just as you said.
I think 73-74 seats are 5" and mine are 75-76 seats and need 3.75".
I checked with Ken first, as of now he does not have the new brackets to eliminate this issue.
Also, got the restored slider brackets from TKCR, beautiful work.
Then will need to get Ken's center supports installed/welded in place.

His brackets are so much stronger than the originals. And moving the inner rivnut is no biggie. Post some pics so we can see.

Pictures of Ken's brackets ?
The steel is 3/16" thick, heavy duty.

Yes, definitely will post pics when I get there. My seat covers were ordered about 3 weeks after TKCR's were ordered,
so it's gonna be a while. Maybe can get seats installed and temporarily drive with the old seat covers
which are not terrible.

I saw a picture of a support 'bar' somewhere (cant remember where) that fits under the console
to bring it to proper height. Anyone have any ideas where to find one, or an
alternate solution ?? Or is that not needed ??

Not sure. I think most people bolt the console directly to the floor. If the height isn’t to your liking I imagine some spacers with a “support bar” could be easily mocked up

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

Making some progress. Got the bench removed, cleaned the floor, drilled the rear/center hole,
test fit the drivers seat. No problems (knock on wood). Still need to get center/front brackets welded.

I really like the saddle color with the dark blue, that's why I ordered saddle seat covers.
Of course I will have to paint the door panels, order new dash pad, etc.

We both ordered from USA1 Industries, but they need made. They don’t keep this stuff in stock. Everything is made to order. So it’s going to take some time to get them.
