Re: What kind of tree is this?
It's not a tree, it's the rear out of a woody wagon

Re: What kind of tree is this?
I thought ironwood at first.
You guys are good. It is indeed a rear end with the u-bolt still attached. Remember this the next time those from the drier climates ask if something is too rusty to save.

Re: What kind of tree is this?
I have seen some seriously rusty/crusty stuff over the years (myself included) but that takes the top prize.
How did it get so bark-like? It's obviously been in the weather and nothing has ever touched/interrupted it, but what else?

Re: What kind of tree is this?
Sodium Chloride, brine, any other liquid rust ice remover the DOT can make up.

Re: What kind of tree is this?
That stuff keeps on eating. Way worse than salt.

Re: What kind of tree is this?
Calsium? I remember that stuff being used as ballast in tractor tires and it wheels, valve stems, and pretty much everything else.

Re: What kind of tree is this?
That damn brine they used to put down when I lived in VA was murder. My dad got my mom a brand new suburban in 2004. By 2019 when she got rid of it, it had body rot all the way around and in the cargo area floor. She never got the under carriage wash at the car wash and it showed bad. Im glad they don’t really use salt here when the bad weather comes. We live 14 miles from Colorado so I do get snow, but they don’t go overboard like the Midwest/east coast.
