Motor location LS swap
I am new to the ls swap game. I’ve converted my 2wd to 4 wd and I am using a pacifica fab Ls crossmember. Is there a general rule of thumb as to where to place the motor or does it matter if it fits with out hitting anything?

Re: Motor location LS swap
Front differential to oil pan clearance can be an issue. If under full suspension movement you have enough clearance you are good to go.
Stock height or lift, less clearance issues with some lift. What transmission and transfer case do you plan on using? 4L60/NP205 can have pan to driveshaft issues.

Re: Motor location LS swap
Installed a 6.2 LS. Will try to remember and get you a measurement tomorrow on my 72 4x4 SWB. I am using the Pac Fab crossmember as well. There are some pics of install in the later posts in my build thread. Clearance to oil pan does not seem to be an issue. The crossmember is the contact point. Bump stops will have to be lowered 2"-3" with the crossmember to eliminate interference.

Re: Motor location LS swap
Another thing to consider is the headers or any exhaust manifolds. Might be a good idea to buy and install the headers and make sure clearances are good.
