Steering wheel wobble

Please help I stopped driving myy 89 suburban years ago and just recently just put her back on the road. I replaced the steering wheel gear box but and had the wheels aligned. But I'm still all over the road ......everyone I've talked to keeps tell me that even the rebuilted units are the same. So my question for the board is " is there a newer years that will work in its place, or if there is anything else I can do to fix this problem

Re: Steering wheel wobble

I will assume the frontend tech who aligned it also made sure all the ball joints, tierod ends etc were good. I have had a bent rim cause a wobble (the tire shop bent the rim), also had tires on a couple of occasions get a small bubble and caused a wobble. Move your fronts to the back and see if it changes. Good luck

Re: Steering wheel wobble

X2. Any one of those parts can contribute to the problem. Including sway bar bushings, etc.

Re: Steering wheel wobble

I hated loose steering so I learned how to adjust my own box and its much better now. gotta tighten the adjustment where the steering shaft goes in first. also helps to run a xj steering shaft as well.
