Saturday Cruise

Took a little cruise out to Alviso at the end of the San Francisco bay.
A sort of retro little place, kinda takes me back . It was nice to get out and about.

Re: Saturday Cruise

Thanks guys I appreciate the kind words. I had to swap out tires/ wheels cuz I lost a cap on the old cragars and when I went to replace it I noticed the front tires were cracking and almost as bald as me. Took the old gal down Monterey Hwy to Morgan hill and back Love to Saturday cruise

Re: Saturday Cruise

Hmmm, that's a tough choice on which wheel setup I like better. Both look great, but I think I might have to lean more towards the Cragars. Bummer that you lost a cap, but sounds like that one missing cap kept you from having a blowout and ruining some sheet metal and whatever else the tire shreds could grab onto

Re: Saturday Cruise

Slepysal,
Your truck's looking good. I like the stance & pictures. Got a question for you though. Since you said your tires are as bald as your head - I'm guessing you're getting up there in age a little? Just wondering if you ever made it to St. James Infirmary in Mountain View before it burned down in 1998? I loved that place! Draught beers were .50 a beer in the early 80's. I made the mistake of telling my supervisor I was stopping by there during working hours. About 2 weeks later I totaled the company car at SFO airport (arriving flights) doing 50+ in a 25. Kept my job.

Re: Saturday Cruise

You should take a cruise up to Ocean Beach in SF on the 3rd Sunday of any month. We have a get together on that Sunday of the month. It goes from 7 am to 11 am. I am usually there.

Re: Saturday Cruise

Truck looks great, losing the cap , those things just happen, but with as many people that are on this site, one would think that someone would have a leftover from years past, in the junk cabinet or wherever…I’ll check today, if I have one its got your name on it, unfortunately, no guarantee that its here…

Yup I have always been a glass half full type of guy, so Loosing the cap sort of worked out. Thanks

Re: Saturday Cruise

Rocknrod, JChav, thanks , Still a work in progress after all these years.
MT thanks for the offer.I have an extra cap just no extra cash for new tires.
Chevy Fleetside, sounds like a fun time, just got to find a free Sunday !!

64 Short box Sadly I never made it up to St. James Infirmary. Didn't it have a huge lady statue in front of it? Man... .50 beer the good old days, I used to go to JJ"s "home of the blues" bar on Stevens Creek right next to were I used to work ( Economy Imports) back in the mid 80's.

Re: Saturday Cruise

As others have said, that is a great stance on your truck. Do you still have the torsion bars up front? And, what kind of drop springs do you have in the back? 3 inch? I have a 62 that I want to keep the torsion bars, but thinking of how to match the back springs to sit it down a bit. If it rode close to your stance I would be very happy.

I appreciate that. Yes I am still running the torsion bars. I converted to disc brakes with drop spindles and cranked the bars down a bit. In the back I am running some 3 inch CPP drop springs. The ride is nice. hopes this helps.

Yes. That helps a lot. Good to hear options and how people get the right look in their truck.
Thanks

Re: Saturday Cruise

Hey Sal. I have another one for you. Sat July 9th there will be a cruise night on El Camino. I believe it starts a 6pm. This is not drive out and park your truck it is an actual cruise, like in the old days.
Check it out here. https://www.facebook.com/events/1025.../?ref=newsfeed

Your truck looks cool. I really like seeing the pictures of it out and about and hearing how much you enjoy taking it cruising.
