Your fan is way too far into the shroud. You should have 1/2 or so of your fan out of the shroud.

I'd also look at swapping to a high flow water pump.

I know it seems elementary, have you checked your cap? How many # cap are you running and are you running an expansion tank or not?
If the cap is bad it won't necessarily puke, however according to Boyles' gas law that could be 30° right there.
Any chance the parts place sold you a serpentine belt pump(reverse)?

Not to change the subject but do you camp a lot? I pull my 24 footer with my 79 bronco. I get a lot of looks. I bet you do the same. Great set up!! I agree with the timing might be a little high for towing and get a better fan

UncleMike what did you come up with? I'm here in Oregon and know the ambient temp is starting to come up finally, I am in the middle of recreating the wheel for my 64 1 ton suburpanel. Fuel prices have caused me to decide on a clutched unit for which I had to build a new shroud for. Love seeing a fellow Oregonian on here

I agree with this. Your fan is too far in the shroud. I'd also suggest a 6 or 7 blade clutch fan. I would be willing to bet with these two changes you would see a drop of 20* + degrees in operating temps. I went through this with my '65 a few years ago and going from a 16" electric fan to a 17" 6-blade clutch fan with a shroud made a huge difference in running temps on it.
