did some investigation on why I had no forward motion ...

looks like I got all of the life out of that set, but it looks like its a 10 inch / 6 cylinder clutch trying to live behind that poor little v8

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Got the truck back from engine installation today. I am now the proud owner of a blueprint 355. It definitely sounds and feels different at idle. I have only basically cruised with it in light traffic. I need to take it easy for the next 500 miles. It is tuned down right now so that I don’t push it hard. The dyno sheet shows around 420 hp and around the same foot pounds. The mechanic said I need a Heavier truck. It sounds like he played with it a little on the freeway. I am excited to see what it can do. I will take photos soon. I am not happy with my new Accessory brackets and everything like the hoses and plug wires need to be routed better.

Yah. The guy that installed it said when he test drove it on the freeway he realized he was getting a little sideways. I am going to have to be careful.

He’s some pictures. It still needs some straitening up. I want to get some accessory brackets that mount lower and more to the side. You might even notice that the ac still doesn’t have a belt on it.

Vintage Air and Allen Grove have what you want, I think they’re called mid-mount….

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

When I ordered those brackets from vintage air they told me that the only ones that they had that were side mount were bolted to the exhaust manifold bolts which would not work with my headers. At the time I was also looking for something that placed my ac in the same place as before so I would not have to mess with my hoses. It turns out that the mechanic disconnected my hoses anyway so that didn’t matter. After talking with Rocknrod and looking at the Allen Grove website I saw that they do make a side mount bracket that only utilizes the front head and water pump bolts. I guess I should have talked to them before I assumed that Vintage Air carried all of their products. Also the alternator bracket that I have on there now is not installed as it should be because the power steering pump cap keeps me from doing so.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

I’ve mounted several of Vintage Air brackets, the headers just need a different length spacer, they use the first and third bolts, I have a lathe so it’s easier for me, I mock them up and just cut the spacer I need….Alan Grove makes great brackets also, have used them before…

I reshot my hood today. I did a substandard job the first time so I took it off and brought it down to an easier level. I made a little lowboy bench to do it and put these wheels on it to make it mobile. https://www.rockler.com/rockler-quic...oaAqz0EALw_wcB It made it nice to roll out and sand it in the driveway in the evenings and roll it back in for safe keeping.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

I replaced the floor mats and thought I would cover the back wall to cover up the sound deadener and get the seat installed. I also replaced the door seals. I read the posts about the Honda door seals fitting better after I fought with the seals I got from another vendor. Now I need to change them so the doors will close easier.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Looks nice and clean. I was kicking around the idea of getting the Honda seals for a while but from what I heard they were not long enough for the wrap around window trucks. I went with Precision brand and they have worked vary well. I had a previous set from Steel Rubber and I had the same problem with the doors not closing properly and they kept on falling off of the lip. Also if you are having problems with your doors being hard to close it might have to do with air not being able to escape from the cab when shutting the doors.

Thanks for the info. I will look into precision brand seals. I don't like the ones I have now.

The Seals from a 2008 Honda Civic Hatchback 3 Door fitted my '62 perfectly.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Thanks, shooting a hood on the truck is a bear. I'm 6'4" and it's still hard to strech out to the middle and lay it smoothly. Getting it down to something the height of a coffee table is a huge help and being able to roll it around is icing on the cake.
