shifter help
Have a 200 4-r transmission in my 68. Going to use floor mounted Lokar shifter. (Not able to get column shifter to work after weeks of trying.) Lokar tech says I need to use the cable linkage with the floor mounted shifter, since I have a bench seat. Anyone have the 200 4-r and using Lokar floor shift in their truck? If so did u have to use the cable or were u able to use the rod linkage? Thanks to all who respond. Lokar also said could not use their case mounted shifter with the 200 in the 67-72 C-10

What was the problem with the stock linkage? I used the stock linkage in my '69 Suburban when I put it together with the 2004r and I don't remember having any problems with it. I used the Bowtie Overdrives "TV Made EZ" kit and the "Torque Converter Lockup" kit in mine but that really didn't have anything to do with the shift linkage...... LockDoc

Re: shifter help
I agree with LockDoc. The 2004R should hook up just like a THM350. No differences.
Do you have headers? Then it can be an issue. |

Re: shifter help
I use my stock linkage in my 69 C-10 with no issues. I have the 700R4 The only thing you will notice with a stock linkage is you will only have 3 manual selections od, dr, 2. You wont have low for a manual selection as its a 3spd shifter. But looks cooler and saves you money. Plus how many times will you yank it down in low.

Re: shifter help
Trucks stock linkage was removed long before I got the truck, had an inexpensive after market column that I replaced with a Flaming river column with their rack & pinion system. Yes truck has headers (Patriot)

Re: shifter help
I had a 200R4 in a 72 C10, with oem. column Shifter, worked fine.
I did have to make some minor modifications to the linkage, mostly because the original column ball socket kept popping out. Replaced it with a solid metal spherical ball end. No more problems after that. i also have an original column with all the linkage available. |

Re: shifter help
On my 68 C10 LS 4L60E swap I used the Lokar rod type. It worked well.
Here's a pic. |
